This presentation examines the foggy world of punctuation, a subject often overlooked or even taboo in the classroom but which has a substantial impact on exam grades. Never again will you be in doubt about the use of those awkward apostrophes, puzzling parentheses, confusing colons, etc., nor where or where not to put those tricky quotation marks. This session will also demonstrate effective classroom activities to empower you to teach this perennially challenging aspect of our work.
Do we need one for each examination our students will be sitting?
How do we go about choosing the appropriate coursebook?

Choosing the correct register and level of formality for an article, essay, letter or email is not always easy for our students. In this session, we will be looking at what ‘register’ and ‘formality’ really mean in the context of B2-C2 exams. We will be outlining some key questions students should be asking themselves before/as they write and we will be focussing on some key do’s and don’ts which will help students master formality and register, to ensure exam success.
– The implications of this year’s high pass rates in many exams.
– ‘Kratiko’ goes digital but how many candidates are willing to take it?
– LRN, NOCN, ESB and MSU still strong.
– IELTS on the rise.
– Fewer candidates for TOEIC and TOEFL.
– CaMLA (Cambridge and Michigan Language Assessment) still leading in numbers.
– The role of the efl teacher today, when teaching or ‘preparing’ learners at levels B2 and C2.
A book designed to help students at the C2-level develop their skills in written and oral communication as they prepare for the writing and speaking sections of the ECPE Test.

Quick Response Codes are machine-readable optical labels that contain information about the item they are attached to. Their popularity is based on their readability and storage capacity. They can be used to host information in the form of text, images, audio and video as well as links to emails, applications, websites and social media. They augment educational reality by allowing educators and students to access and create layers of digital information on top of the physical world. QR codes can be introduced to provide differentiated and personalized instruction as well as variable group set ups and tasks. In this environment of peer learning students interact with other learners to achieve specific educational goals.
