The American College of Greece (ACG) was founded in 1875 in Smyrna by American missionaries from Boston and relocated in Athens in 1923. ACG is the oldest and largest accredited American institution of higher education in Europe. It is an independent, non-profit, nonsectarian, co-educational institution accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and validated by Open University, UK. In 1986, the College was honored by The Academy of Athens for its contribution to education.
The MSU exams have been administered in Greece since 2009. There are two levels of exams: MSU-CELC at level B2 and MSU-CELP at level C2 on the CEFR scale. The exams are recognized by ΑΣΕΠ and have been supported by the Fulbright Foundation since 2010. In 2013, MSU-CELP holders were granted Επάρκεια Διδασκαλίας by the Ministry of Education but suspended the awarding of Επάρκεια Διδασκαλίας to holders of all foreign language C2 certificates not long after. Currently, the MSU tests are offered in over 45 test centers around Greece.
