Cliff Parry, Responsible for Teaching Centres in Greece for the British Council
Yes, I grew up in a manly world – an old industrial town scarred by brickworks and worked out pits – a world where a man was expected to do a man’s job or end up in prison. (A note here – many of friends as a lad did manly jobs AND ended up in prison.) In keeping with these expectations I studied mining engineering and became an engineer before the pits closed. In love, I came to Greece and became a teacher – not a teacher of rough explosive subjects like science. No here I am a teacher of people. How lucky was I to find 2 vocations! How blessed have I been to be able to work in Greece!
