Dmitry Ptyushkin, Head of the SPbU Language Testing Center
Dmitry Ptyushkin has been the Head of the Language Testing Centre of St. Petersburg University (Russia) since 2017.
Apart from running the Test of Russian as a foreign language (TORFL) in more than 100 centers in 42 countries, he organizes various events aimed at popularizing the Russian language and Russian culture all over the world. For instance, Mr Ptyshkin manages the project “SPBU Online School” which brings together more than 2,000 Russian-speaking students from seven countries and helps them follow the Russian high school curriculum. He is also the coordinator of the largest Russian as a Foreign Language Olympiad (more than 22,000 participants overall). He also takes an active part in migration policy writing.
Mr. Ptyushkin is one of the authors of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language practice tests (book series “Passing TORFL with flying colours”). This SPbU book series was published in collaboration with the Zlatoust publishing house, the largest publishing house in the field of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language in Russia.
Mr. Ptyushkin’s area of scientific interests includes popularization of the Russian language and culture abroad, promoting the TORFL system, as well as aiding the language adaptation process of immigrants in the Russian Federation.
