At lower levels, we sometimes simplify grammar rules to avoid confusing our students. At what point should we ‘reveal all’? And do we know what ‘all’ is anyway? In this session, we’ll look how several different grammar points are usually presented in coursebooks and grammar books. We’ll ask how accurate the grammar presentation is, and how useful it is for our students. We’ll also think about grammar that rarely or never appears in grammar books. By the end of the session, you might well be thinking differently about conditionals, talking about the future, the causative and several other grammar points.
