The purpose of this paper is to identify, analyse and evaluate the merits and demerits of different opportunities for Continuing Professional Development in LTOs. It will then focus on the advantages of investing time and energy on a structured qualification driven course (Delta)
Primary teachers face many challenges, not least students with different levels of motivation, but to what extent can the materials and methods used in a classroom have a positive impact on motivation? In this workshop we will look at student motivation and how materials, methods and the teacher can all have an impact. Examples will be shown from the Cambridge Fun for book series.
How can we prepare our students to succeed in a fast-changing world, to collaborate with people from around the globe, to create innovation as technology increasingly takes over routine work, to use advanced thinking skills in the face of more complex challenges, to show resilience in the face of constant change? These are questions that will be addressed in the workshop, where we will also determine the skills and competencies our students need for the 21st century. Examples will be shown from the Cambridge Think series.
In January 2020, Cambridge Assessment English is updating the A2 Key, A2 Key for Schools, B1 Preliminary and B1 Preliminary for Schools exams to make sure they’re continuing to reflect the latest thinking in learning and assessment, and also continuing to meet the needs of our schools and learners. This session will outline the changes to the exams and provide you with some ideas on how to prepare for the tests.
We meet Ζippy and his friends in this series! Through their adventures learners experience fun, topic-appropriate activities, where communication is not at the expense of grammar and projects are part of learning. Give your students the opportunity to be confident and independent users of English.
In this session we’ll explore how learning English has gone beyond just teaching grammar, vocabulary and the four skills. It’s also about helping our young learners to develop the knowledge, values and skills to become both active and effective global citizens.

How innovative are we in the language teaching sector? How many risks do we take? What makes teachers or school owners hesitant when it comes to adopting and implementing innovation in education? In this talk, we will explore how innovative approaches can and should be applied and how this connects with student motivation and engagement.

Through this presentation we will examine the potential of songs and games as a valuable pedagogical tool to help young pupils learn English. We will investigate their role (1) in arousing positive emotions in the language classroom and (2) determine whether and to what extent positive emotions can help to reinforce the grammatical structures being taught and aid vocabulary acquisition. Finally, we will explore ready to use activities and how can teachers create their own teaching material.
Developing speaking skills in a ELT class full of nonnative students can be tricky and complicated for many nonnative teachers. Fighting
the reluctance of students to perform speaking activities may have a more compound solution than we possibly imagine. The speaker will
analyze why most of the students don’t want to speak, will try to give some real, tangible remedies on how a teacher can cope with similar
situations and will stress why thorough speaking practice should be “a must have” of our syllabus, starting from the very early years of
learning.
When it comes to learning a language, literacy is the basis for decoding and understanding the target language. For this to happen, young
learners of English need to be explicitly taught the symbols and sounds of the language. Developing phonemic awareness is a key early
literacy strategy. Language and content can then be used to increase comprehension, boost learners’ motivation and spark their curiosity.
