SEMINAR PROGRAMME

Rather than examining students’ knowledge, alternative assessment encourages students to apply their knowledge and their understanding and personal meaning of what they have learnt in class on authentic tasks. Authentic tasks, which foster higher-order creative, critical and analytical thinking skills, allow students to work together to understand complex content and diverse perspectives, to solve problems and to make decisions about situations that resemble the outside world. Placing the emphasis on ‘real-life’ skills, alternative assessment enables teachers to provide students with experiences aligned with 21st century learning, and students to achieve personal growth.
This talk delves into the transformative power of play-based learning in early childhood education. We examine how structured play activities stimulate cognitive, social, and emotional development, fostering creativity and curiosity. By integrating play into the curriculum, educators can create engaging, inclusive, and joyful learning environments. We explore evidence-backed methodologies, highlighting the benefits of imaginative play, games, and role-playing for skill-building. Join us to discover the science behind play-based learning, and how it nurtures a lifelong love of learning in young minds, empowering them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
Let’s explore how AI-powered tools can be combined with our ‘traditional’ language classrooms not only to enhance language learning, but also to provide a personalised learning path for every student.
Assessment goes beyond simple grading, looking at patterns of student learning. By using that data we can help students learn more effectively, improving their overall performance in writing.
We will explore strategies for promoting bilingualism for children and fostering linguistic proficiency. This talk delves into the cognitive benefits of bilingualism, offering insights into effective educational models that promote language acquisition and cultural fluency. Join us as we navigate the journey of nurturing a multilingual future generation.
Light meal will be sponsored by Dietschi Educational Services
This presentation will address linguistically and culturally diverse EFL classrooms in Cyprus, with a particular focus on teaching and assessment of young multilingual learners and teachers’ perceptions, attitudes and beliefs regarding multilingualism and multiculturalism, as well as their challenges and needs.
Drama and Storytelling can do wonders in the classroom. Join us and learn how you can integrate Drama activities and Storytelling techniques in your lesson in order to make it enjoyable, effective and meaningful.
In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as a transformative force, leading to a new era in teaching methodologies. This presentation will explore the profound impact of AI on the future of language teaching and the ways teachers themselves hold the key to unlocking a future where AI will only benefit both learners and teachers.
